  1. Haven’t seen you in 20 something years… the last time we chatted was at Yo Studios. I’m lighting a candle for you, hope it lights your way to better health.

It’s a small world though-I’m sure we’ll run into each other somewhere on the road. I found this site and your current state because I was telling a friend about Coyote on the Town. Isn’t it interesting the way things work.

  2. Best wishes and speedy recovery to you from all that ails you. At times I wish there was a magical solution to all of our maladies, however impossible this wish may be. Your music has been a constant reminder to me of how gifted a musician you truly are! Watching and hearing you play has been an inspiration to me to play my guitar, yes, it’s Kay! Thanks for all the wonderful music, and I wish you get well. All the best!

  3. Hi Tony,

I was surprised and saddened to hear of your health issues. I’m a big fan of LJ and Maria and after years away got back into the music this summer. I really enjoy watching the old concert videos on YouTube, particularly that show at the Ritz in 85. While it’s easy to focus on Maria I couldn’t help but be taken by the talented, dynamic, and handsome guitar player to her left. My greatest musical regret is not seeing you guys in concert. I was in my early-twenties at the time and LJ came through Cleveland twice, and I missed them both! I simply didn’t get word of the shows down in Youngstown I guess or I would have been there. I had just started seeing shows at that time. The first time with you was in October of 85 at Peabody’s Down Under. I’ve actually been searching for a review of that show in the Plain Dealer and hope to find it.

Hang in there, we need you back out there playing and contributing your talents in the music world.

  4. Tony you and your family have been in our prayers and we’ve been sending you healing and restorative thoughts and blessings. I’ve had quite a few health issues over the past 3 years and I know it can be quite a struggle and a journey of courage and faith. May all the love that already surrounds you bring you healing and peace of mind.

  5. Have the doctors considered amyloidosis? Had a friend with Amyloidosis who had similar symptoms and a similarly hard time with diagnosis since it’s so rare. Perhaps it’s worth mentioning to the docs.

  6. Hi Tony,

So wondering how you’re doing. I know it might be hard to get back to me personally, but I want you to know I’ve been thinking of you,
    Love,
    Kathy

  7. Dear Tony,

  10. Very sorry to hear about your illness. Please consider if you have not already done so contacting the Tree of Life in Patagonia AZ and specifically Dr. Gabriel Cousens. His insights are beyond compare and the progressive forward thinking alternative treatments being done at the Center are remarkable. I would really very much strongly urge that you take the time to contact Gabriel regarding your illness and its related mystery. If anyone can unravel it…he can and I say that with great confidence and all due respect to health practitioners everywhere.

    Kind Regards,

    Michael Shields

  11. I do not know much about this, but just passing it along in case it
    might be helpful.

I just happened to be reading one of this ladies books and there were
some case histories in it that seemed possibly similar.
I really have absolutely no idea if this has any value.
Just on the chance that it might.

  12. Tony,

Twenty years ago I discovered this place in England where there is a Well from which people have drank and been healed of a variety of illnesses. It’s a long way to go, but if – as the lady in this clip says – you’re open, it may help heal you.

See if this resonates and, if it does, I’d be happy to talk with you.

    Cheers,
    Jack

  13. Dear Tony,
You are in our hearts and our prayers. It was such a treat to see you last July, and to have you be a part of Gary’s 50th with Mike and the boys. We were so happy to have you there!
Sending lots of love and light your way.
    Leslie

  14. Hi Tony,
So sorry to hear you’re not well. I was wondering if you have heard of the charity Musicares? They help musicians with doctors bills etc.
Just thought it might help you.
    God Bless,
    Genny Schorr

  15. Tony I am sending you all the love and strength I can muster. I had no idea you were ill. God bless you and keep you safe and strong. You can beat this thing whatever it turns out to be!!!!!

  16. Just learned of Tony and his health challenges on Ralston Bowles’ facebook page. I’ll be looking forward to learn next about his getting a diagnosis and treatment plan. Will keep him and his family in my prayers.

  17. My day has been brightened by reading your fb post! I hope the folks at MAYO can provide relief very soon and facilatate your recovery! The world needs you & your music! Peace & light. JB

  18. So sorry to hear of your illness, Tony. You are a great guy and a great talent and I’m honored to have gotten the chance to play on one of your solo albums.

Best wishes for a full recovery!

  19. Tony-been a fan of the music making Gilkyson family since 1974! Many fond memories of the Cerrillos All-Stars@the Golden Inn on Sunday afternoons, a Gilkyson family sing along in SF featuring you, then Lisa (Eliza) and Terry! Everyone is Crazy ‘xepting Me.

I have suffered unexplainable nuerological disorders, from March 2005, that trigger a variety of health issues (spare you the list) however the docs@MAYO Clinic in Phx & Scottsdale have been working with & have radically improved both my health status & quality of life to the point I can function well enough to work and not worry about the notion of disability! Call (915-383-4574) if you’d like to chat! As a new mexican I initially I thought it was due to, too little Chimayo Chile. I do hope I can assist; these sorts of illnesses are so mysterious & even jiving on the tele or on line helps! Peace, light, goodness & healing energy to you. JGB

  20. Tony,
This is kind of random…but have you ever tried OPC-3? I suffered from CFIDS years ago (for about 5 yrs.), and this actually brought me back from it. Google it sometime…..Not sure why, but I felt I needed to share this with you. …. synchronicity?…
    Wishing you well,
    Betsy

  21. Just heard about all this from Rip, I hardly know what to say. Hang in there, keep fighting the fight. Lots of prayers and good thoughts and love from me.

    Jon

  22. Best wishes for a full recovery and hang in there! I learned about you through my friend Josh Grange and your playing has wowed me ever since, including at the Cinema Bar and Echoplex, not to mention your records with Randy Weeks, Chuck E. Weiss and of course, Goodbye Guitar. Hope to hear something new from that Kay Sizzler soon!!!

  23. I love you, Tony, Margaret and Nina. I had no idea what you were dealing with – your humility and discretion is just one of the many virtues you model for us everyday. All my love, and I will be paying much closer attention and looking for an opportunity when I can contribute some real assistance…

    XOXO
    Quenby

  24. Tony,
You may not remember me. We met a brief couple of times through Randy Weeks. In fact, you played my wedding with Randy in 2005 at Malibu Lake. Anyway, my family and I are sending all good love your way.
    Best,
    Jordan

  25. Hi T – I just heard about this site and the confusion about getting you diagnosed properly…I’m so sorry – I had no idea. I’m sending your the biggest hugs ever my friend. And when you feel like it, PLEASE bring your family up to Monterey and visit. Fresh air, aquarium, long walks on the beach, etc. You know I love you tons….
If I get down to LA – I’ll leave you a message on the facebook and maybe we can hang. Love you – Denise

  26. Tony…sending you healing thoughts. I am sure friends and family have thrown a lot of good vibes your way…including treatment ideas. My father suffered and undiagnosed illness for years until we got him to the Mayo Clinic. It was there that he was diagnosed, treated and cured. If your HMO can’t figure it out…they owe it to you to refer you to Mayo. They are the best.
    Michael
